I appeal to all Catholics to vote against the Nanny state mentality of Democrats. Christ wants us to utilize our talents (His gifts to us) and make the world better for all. Christ does not want us to be over dependent on handouts. Many need welfare but our Nanny state has gone too far. In 1967 the ratio of able bodied workers to disabled was 41 to 1. Today it is 16 to 1. This is impossible to pay much longer. This is fraud and restricts resources for the truly needy.
We must gradually change the current cradle to grave mindset of many Americans. Otherwise foreigners will balk at financing our debt and impose their own financial solution on us. Facts:
More than 100-million Americans are now receiving some kind of federal welfare, and that does not count Social Security or Medicare. In 2000, 34-million Americans were on Medicaid; now the number is 54-million. In 2000, 17-million of us received food stamps; today that number is an astronomical 45-million Americans. Some Americans need help, no question about it, but what President Obama does not want to articulate is that there is a shift in how many Americans sees themselves. It used to be that self-reliance ruled, but now many of us feel we are entitled to free stuff because it’s not really our fault if we’re not prospering. There is a tremendous sense of entitlement among some Americans who simply have not succeeded. President Obama is encouraging that mindset by putting out a narrative that says wealthy Americans and business people are not paying their ‘fair share,’ even though all the stats show that the affluent pay the vast majority of federal taxes. In France, the new Socialist president wants to tax the affluent at a rate of 75% so he can dole the money out to French citizens who don’t have very much, thereby ensuring their permanent support. Do you see a difference between the French Socialist strategy. I don’t.
Yes the elites running the Democrats purposely want to build a large dependency on gov class so they can stay in power indefinitely. Save this country and vote for Mitt who will prioritize the much more productive private sector instead of the public to growth the economy and create an environment where we can freely develop our talents.
